My father introduced me to chess and video games when I was a kid. At the time, my father owned an Atari 2600. I would marvel at the graphics. Even though the graphics were very simple in the early 1980s, it was always amazing to see animated graphics on the screen, either a series of pixels or a vector representing a character or likely a scenario to figure out.
My earliest memories of playing video games was at a hotel in Massachusetts. There were two arcade games in the corner
of the lobby: Gauntlet 2 and Sega's Out-Runner. My family and I would go to Lake George, where there is a haunted museum and massive arcade on the stripe. These were the earliest memories of playing videos, and this sparked my curiosity for years to come.
I have been collecting video games for over 30 years. My video game collection grew when I used to hang out at The Cutting Edge, a local video game store near Edward's supermarket in Fairfield, Connecticut. Edward's was the massive supermarket chain at the time in the mid 90s. The landscape at the plaza on Black Rock is always in flux, but there is always a supermarket chain that emerges in these silent transitions.
As I perused the video game aisles at The Cutting Edge in my free time, my mother would stock the greeting card shelves at Edward's and Party City. Her job was to make sure the greeting cards were stocked and orderly on the shelves. I guess The Cutting Edge video game store was a substitute babysitter.
I bought so many video games at The Cutting Edge in Fairfield. The owner was eager to meet my umother who picked me up from the store. The charismatic owner greeted my mother with enthusiasm. I poured so much money into this place – each video game purchase become the foundation and cornerstone of my recent collection.
My hobby and obsession for collecting video games started with only a few games, and is especially fueled by 1980s and 1990s nostalgia.
My favorite video game of all time is The Legend of Zelda. The purpose of this web site is to write about Nintendo games, and to setup a vibrant e-commerce store for collector and video game enthusiast.
